Pigment

Five pots, no mixing. Colours sit next to each other and your eye does the blending, the way pointillism works. There is no white: leave a spot blank and the paper does it.

Why dabs, not strokes: a continuous line needs steady pressure through the wrist the whole way. A dab is one press and lift, which a robot can repeat reliably.
